| | | Professor Ian R Plimer Position: Independent Non-Executive Director
Ian is a Professor of Mining Geology at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He has previously held academic positions as Professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, and at the University of Newcastle. His academic career includes the Leopold von Buch Medal for Science, the Centenary Medal and the Eureka Prize (twice).
Ian has previously been on the staff of North Broken Hill Ltd, and is a prominent Australian geologist who has spent most of his industry, consulting and scientific life working on base metal deposits, particularly in Broken Hill, epithermal gold deposits, especially in the Mediterranean, and tungsten-tin-molybdenum deposits. He has predicted and discovered a number of epithermal gold deposits in the Mediterranean.
Ian is a respected scientist, has published 6 books and 130 scientific papers and edited the Academic Press Encyclopaedia of Geology. He is a fellow of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, a Fellow of the Australiasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.
A non-executive director of CBH Resources, and Kefi Minerals, Ian holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours), and a PhD.
