Position: General Manager, Exploration Strategy & Systems
Barry was appointed as General Manager, Development, of Ivanhoe Australia in June 2007.
Barry has extensive experience as a consultant in mineral resource and exploration, and is credited with the discovery of several ore bodies and reserves. Most recently, Barry was General Manager, Corporate Development, for Sedimentary Holdings Ltd.
Barry's career began as an operations based mine and exploration geologist, including roles such as Chief Geologist for Western Mining Corporation Ltd in Eastern Australia, and the South-West Pacific region. Other roles with Western Mining included Project Acquisition and Management within Engineering Services, and Manager of Project Studies for Zarmitan Project in Uzbekistan. He has also held positions such as General Manager, Business Development, with Multiplex Mining Pty Ltd.
Barry holds a Diploma in Geology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and a Masters in Mineral and Energy Economics from Macquarie University. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute for Mining and Metallurgy, a Chartered Management Professional, and a Member of the Geology Society of Australia,.
